Happy Birthday, picjumbo! 🥳

Published by • 1 month ago

Hello my friends,

Twelve years ago, I uploaded the very first photo to this small website called picjumbo.

I had no idea where it would lead — I just wanted to share my photos freely with the world.

No paywalls, no watermarks, no nonsense. Just real, high-quality photos that anyone could use.

And here we are, 12 years later — millions of downloads, thousands of projects powered by these images, and one very grateful creator behind it all 🥳

What started as a simple idea has become a living, breathing project that keeps growing every day.

Published by • April 29, 2024

I am happy to announce that I have signed a deal with iStock and now iStock is a new search partner on picjumbo!

Making and offering photos for free, and as a one-man-show, is hard. It costs a lot of my effort, time, money, and the resulting photo is still free. You don’t have to take out a credit card, you don’t have to register anywhere, you don’t have to sign up for the newsletter or do anything like that. You just click and download.

Last chance to get monthly and annual plans?

Published by • February 15, 2024

After careful consideration, I have decided to discontinue our monthly and annual subscription plans for now in the next days.

Why make the change? I understand that in today’s fast-paced world, adding another monthly bill can be less than ideal. Additionally, attracting new customers has become increasingly challenging. By simplifying our pricing model to a one-time payment option, we aim to making it easier and more affordable for everyone to enjoy our high-quality stock photos.

Really last chance?

Yes, for now I really plan to remove these plans and see if it’s the right decision.

Published by • August 8, 2022

I’ve always been open to inspiring others with things I’ve learned or that felt right to me. I hope to do that again now in an interview with Starter Story.

I’ve been running this site for 9 years now, and in that time I’ve gained some experience. In this very detailed interview, you’ll learn how it all started, which books inspired me, that picjumbo was originally a $1.99 photo site, what missteps I’ve made along the way, and so on and so forth.

Interview for Website Planet: picjumbo’s beginnings, how it evolved, and what is in the pipeline for the future

Published by • August 4, 2022

Last week I was contacted by Marko from Website Planet and asked to talk about picjumbo. We talked about how it all started, what it’s all about, who picjumbo helps, and lightly touched on plans for the future.

“The story is almost like a movie: I wanted to start selling my photos on stock photo sites to create something like passive income, but all the stock photo providers rejected me. But as a freelance designer, WordPress coder, and photographer, I didn’t give up and over a weekend I created my own website, my own stock photo site, where I uploaded my photos.”
